How To Buy A Bathroom Faucet

By: Osmundo Bernabe

One of the easiest ways to change the look of your bathroom is to get a new sink and a bathroom faucet. There are all sorts of gorgeous options out there on the market right now including antique look faucets, contemporary chrome nozzles and neo-modern brass fixtures. You can also still buy the old-fashioned crystal headed faucets with the snub nosed spout at quite a bottom. The key shaped faucet handles with porcelain, brass or brushed chrome ends are also still all the rage in fashion.

However although a bathroom faucet does provide an opportunity to make a statement about you many nowadays are also multifunctional units that can also convert to showerheads or split into separate streams. Your options in terms of function are also quite broad and you can have as many spouts as you want on one sink and also as many faucets.

A bathroom faucet can also be quite pricey and like anything you buy, the newer and flashier it is the more expensive it is. Here are some factors to consider before buying a bathroom faucet.

First of all decide on the type of handle that you would like for your faucets. There are single handled faucets that rotate on a ball on top of the spout or dual faucets. If you want you can buy faucets and handles separately and make your own designer combination. Just make sure that if you decide to do this that the faucet and faucet handles are good matches and that they will fit each other.

Your second consideration is the style of bathroom faucet that will look best in your bathroom. There are hundreds of styles available – everything from antique to neo modernist to seventies style faucets. You can also buy stone faucets that spit water out of the wall and sculpted faucets that look like statues from Rome. Once again keep in mind that you tend to get what you pay for and the more complicated your style is, the harder the bathroom faucet will be to install.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you want your bathtub and shower faucets to match your sink faucets. Some people don’t think this is a factor but having matching fixtures really can make a bathroom appear to have a more uniform design.

Yet another very important consideration is what kind of material the bathroom faucet is made of. You can buy them in porcelain, chrome, brass, nickel, plastic and even stone versions. Some designers have even created bathroom faucet spouts out of seashells!

Whatever look you choose for your bathroom faucet make sure that it matches the overall design of your bathroom and that it suits the needs of your lifestyle.
