Small Compact Bathroom VanitiesBy: Osmundo Bernabe
A new vanity is a great and rather inexpensive way to breathe new life into a tired old bathroom. Modern design trends are moving further way from traditional styles of décor and going for a more modern and up to date appeal in bathroom designs. A new compact bathroom vanity is a great way to accomplish this style for your bathroom.
You can find a great variety of vanities for your home through the Internet, magazines, televisions shoes, and books devoted to bathrooms and home or interior design. You will find many colors, styles, shapes, and sizes when it comes to bathroom ‘furnishings’. A bathroom vanity is a rather specialized piece of equipment for a bathroom though it should be rather easy to find a perfectly acceptable compact vanity to suit your bathroom décor. A compact bathroom vanity should not only occupy little space within your bathroom but also leverage a great deal of functionality into that amount of space in order to achieve maximum efficiency. A compact bathroom vanity also serves to lend the appearance of more space within the bathroom than may actually be there. The bathrooms of today are much larger than those of yesteryear and yet they are more and more often becoming a ‘lived in’ room that wasn’t the case in older homes. If you aren’t fortunate enough to have purchased a home that has been built within the last twenty years you probably have the standard 5x7 bathroom of homes of days gone by. Do not despair however, there are things you can to maximize this minimal space. 1) Replace larger toilets with more compact and efficient units that are on the market today. This frees up space and keeps the room looking a little bit roomier in the process. You will also find that the upgrade saves on your water consumption, which is a tremendous bonus. 2) Brighten the room with new countertops and/or a basin. 3) Upgrade hardware for a quick and inexpensive revamp of the look of your bathroom. 4) Install a sink that is either mounted to the wall or a pedestal sink in order to free up more visual space as well as the space that was once occupied by bulky and often inefficient cabinetry. Bathtubs occupy a great deal of real estate in many bathrooms. Consider some of the following options when purchasing a bathtub for your smaller sized bathroom. 1) Select a 6-foot tub with a horizontal bottom. While a tub such as this is best suited for showers it can also provide a relaxing soak if that is the order of the day. 2) Choose designs for your shower curtain or door that are not busy. The simpler the design the larger the room will appear. The same holds true for colors. Select light colors and bright lighting in order to make the room seem larger than it actually may be. The tips above are ideal for decorating a small bathroom on a budget. They may not create a room that will grace the cover of design and décor magazines but they will create a space that is relaxing and appears larger than the room may actually be. You should not need to invest a small fortune in order to have a bathroom that is visually appealing, relaxing, and the oasis from the world that it should be. Nor do you need to do everything at once. Little steps towards your overall design over time can have significant impact. If you are consistent in your efforts you will have the bathroom of your dreams before you know it. Related Articles on Small Bathroom Vanities
